As per February 2nd Damstahl has acquired the German company Edelstahlservice in Frankfurt as well as a belonging production company in Magocs, Hungary. Edelstahlservice was founded in 1974 and was since 2007 part of the Klöckner group.

As of the beginning of 2012, a generally expected increase of the alloy surcharge has had a positive impact on the demand in almost entire Damstahl-land.

The entire European market has lost momentum.

Demand for stainless steel remains higher in Damstahl-land than in other European countries.

The good beginning to the year continues into the second quarter. The activity in the second half of 2011, however, is expected to be more moderate, probably below last year's level.

A rather stable demand enables Damstahl-Land to resist a possible decline of the nickel price that goes its own way again beyond any control of market fundamentals.
